Hi Jerry,

We're OK. The explsion and HAZMAT evacuation was ~2 miles north of Metro airport. We live ~7 miles south on the other side of the airport. The winds in this area take the smoke etc. due east this time of year, so we're not in the way.

I called the HAZMAT director, who happens to be an acquaintance, for some info and apparently they're just going to let it burn out. Might take a day or two though.

That said my wifes mother and her neighborhood had to be evacuated because she lives in the south end of Wayne, Michigan which is the city immediately to the north and within 1 mile of the site. She's also OK and is staying with a relative.

Glad all is well with you Doc. Any new news on what caused the explosions?

No idea yet. That place stored a real witches brew of chemicals so most anything could have done it. Even spilling that stuff on anything made of natural fibrers would have started a fire and from there....
