    Minimum proc speed for HuffYUV?

Building a box for a friend (who's not very wealthy) based on an Asus CUBX.

What would the minimum processor (Celeron or PIII) be to allow him to grab full res (720x480/576) YUV with a Marvel?

I'll be adding a raid controller with 2 WDs, there should be no problem with the HD speed, I just need to know what processor power is needed for the Huffman compression.

I try Celeron400(66)/128MB RAM and it work. But I use Celeron800(100)/128MB RAM. This is fast and cheap.

      Define Marvel !

The beauty of the G400 Marvel (and other hardware MJPEG capture cards) is that they do most of the legwork themselves, and processor speed is therefore not a major consideration (not for capture anyway). More limiting would be the speed of your hard drives. I used to use a G400 Marvel on a P2 233 without major hardship.

If you are talking about the G450 eTV then this uses an software MPEG2 compressor and needs all the processor horsepower you can throw at it - like a Ghz for full frame capture.

Whoops Idiot, read the title !

Sorry, missed the important bit. As I understand, full-frame YUV (a la Huffy) should be possible with a 600~700+

        Still need stonking drives tho
