Does anyone know of any software that can project text onscreen as you type? Wanting to use it for translating a live event for some french speaking people.

Most probably it is, but none of us know about it. I'd try and find a forum about stage lighting, event and concert hardware, etc.Comment

You will need something like that:
Genlock for mix incomming video with text generated by computer.
A computer.
Software like Scala.
(Commodore Amiga 1200 & GVP Genlock, ten years old hardware)
But realtime translate & tipping is a very heavy work!!!!!!!!
For best look, you will need TWO computers and one Video Switcher. One for typping and other for video output.
Probably better: learn french.
