Nothing surprising about this. Given the time required to investigate the irregularities in the granted stock options, there was little doubt that Apple wouldn't meet the deadline for filing.

As stated, Apple has filed for a hearing, which will give them some more time and likely result in the threat of a de-listing being dropped.
