High Definition Format War Nearing End?

    http://tinyurl.com/ozufo

Warner Bros. recently filed a patent application for a new type of DVD that could end the next generation DVD format war before it begins.

Blending aspects of the new HD DVD and Blu-ray technologies, the proposed discs would be playable in both types of players, eliminating the need for consumers to invest in one format over the other.

Junk. This format allows only single layers BR and HDDVD, not enough for HQ high def movies. This will get as "popular" as those CD/DVD combinations that had CD on one side
and DVD disc on the other.

This format war will not end, it will go the same way as DVD+/-R - devices that play both formats, just wait and see.

That would be the idea, but given their childish behavior so far as regards licensing for combo drives....

I doubt people will buy into one of both format in droves. If they want success they'll have to grow up

At this point when any one asks me "Blu-ray or HDDVD?", I answer "neither!"
