Video Camera recommendations?

Thanks for the advice.
I am in the process of moving some funds around and then I will be buying the camera. I'll look into the above software in due course. I am going to be doing all post-processing on my laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6 with 2GB RAM) so my options are going to be limited.

I think the baby will come a day before (tomorrow) - but I had no intention of filming the birth!
It's from a place in London that import from the US and then sell on. It comes with a 2year international waranty and is < two thirds of the price here! (if it arrives)
