How big resolution and colordepth can the RR-G do on "still-image" capturing (from DVD or VHS) ?

The RR, RR-G and Marvel all do 24 bit depths. Your best results will be capturing to .BMP files at 704x480 rez. The next problem is getting past the Macrovision copy protection with the RR-G and Marvel. The older RR doesn't have such problems.

Yes, you get 24 bit 704x480(576) depending on you video standard, only if you extract frames from a movie. Just stills have another parameters.
