I don't mean vignetting, I mean lacking sharpness. I have no idea where this comes from, but I've heard from several people that lenses that were regarded top glass for film were only performing mediocre with their DSLR.

For me it remains to try to sell my F-401s with lens (not to reuse it) and all and buy the D70 with the kit 18-70 optic, than complete with some 300 mm tele.
What’s your advice about the 18-70 as allround lens?
The main task will be to convince my wife that I need a D70.
