DirectX 8.1 for 98 and ME
DirectX 8.1 for Win 2000

The link on the page for 2000 is broken at this time.

DirectX 8.1 does not work with Windows 95.

This may be a dumb question, but...

With DirectX 8.1 now available, does this mean that the Video Capture Update (dx80bda.exe) is no longer necessary as it was with DirectX 8a?

Not ALL OS'es are included in the update. Those of us using WinXP have been enjoying the final DX8.1 for months now.

I have DX8.0a, IE5.5sp2 & WMP 7 on 98SE.
Would like to go to 8.1, 6 & 8 respectively.

Is there a preferred order for this?

Yes but it fixes alot of memory leaks etc.
