I use an APEX Supercase 100FT-P4 on several systems.
6 5.25", 4+2 3.5" + a 350 watt PS (dealer upgrade), LOTS of room, drop down MB plate, all 3.5" bays close enough to MB for doing a full 4 drive RAID w/16" cables, stainless steel w/rolled edges.
Both sides remove, 3 open fan bays, castors + brakes and it runs COOL.
Got it for $65 USD over a year ago at a computer show, but have seen it for <$60 USD since.

I have bought a rather expensive electric heater

Not enough to be worried about... even if it would be it's nothing to add a couple of aluminum L beams to support it.
