Yes despite me slagging of Via I do use a total Via solution.

without the 4 in 1's you will have problems uninstalling your AGP drivers. This was fixed in the VIA drivers.

http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2 It tells you right on the site what problems have ben corrected. It is a simple fact that when you install a new motherboard you should always install the latest chipset drivers to attain full performance and stability.

Although, I agree with the clean install thing.

I've changed the motherboard twice now on my Win2k machine. Both times it was VIA chipsets and both times I had to reinstall because Win2k had a fit.

It's probably better anyway, but it's just kinda annoying.

Just delete the registry key that holds all the hardware information and let windows redetect it all.

Oh pop over to viahardware forums and see how many get full performance with Georges patches.

I only load the .inf drivers from the Via 4-in-1's. I also download and install the Via IDE RAID driver and the Via IDE Filter driver (NOT the miniport). This is in Windows XP Pro. No problems with my system using this setup so far (the standard XP ViaGart seems to work fine too).

i've installed, and not installed them on my Abit KT7 (no raid 686A). It doesn't seem to make a significant difference. The 686B bug is real. On my old work machine back in Jamaica it trashed the HD two times in 7 months.

Man I'm tired of VIA's 4in1 betas, 4in1 drivers for that matter. In my opinion it's very sad that they apparently won't ever get their drivers to work since they release new ones so often.

I haven't installed the 4in1 and my system work fine without them, It's such a long time since I've even borthered to check the 4in1 posts that I've forgotten what they are good for!

What are they good for? If the system runs fine without them, why would anyone even install them?
