I think it's painfully obvious that the manufacturers for nVidia cards are undercutting each other to the point where their margins are razor thin. This is no surprise to me after Hercules decided to make ATI-based cards and Elsa's difficulties financially.

Ultimately there is a market for nVidia based cards, and the Taiwanese counterparts will more than likely take up the slack.

It's not just undercutting, it's abandonment (in the case of Hercules and others) and poor management. That's something NVIDIA should know a lot about

How very true...just look at what Nvidia has been doing to Microsoft with the Xbox Graphics controller and them threating their chip Fab manufacture. Sounds like a classic case of getting too big for their britches.

My theory is hercules went for ATI since there was only 1 competitor in that chipset market. As for others, who else has abandoned nVidia by choice?

You're right. Commanding 50% of the graphics market share would lead a company to start feeling smug. With ATI's 9700 release we'll see what nVidia is made of.
