    AGP 8x problems

Hmm... looks like there might be some trouble with 9700 and AGP 8x boards.

At least according to this post over on the Rage3D forums.

Is the 9700 the first AGP 8x board?

And the Xabre, by coincidence has problems in AGP8x motherboards as well...

Sounds a bit fishy, similar to the DDR400 desaster.
But we named the *dog* Indiana...

The report is that the 9700 was tested on the Intel AGP8x chipset(s), so perhaps it's an issue with SIS/VIA chipsets rather than the standard?

Well, it's all still beta, IIRC. So it's really no big news

also, suprise suprise, sounds like the first 6 months with AGP 4x boards on the market. and people give matrox crap for not enabling AGP 8x.
