    The 4416 laser issue is a known but not admitted (AFAIK) fault in that drive, that basically obliterated the good reputation Yamaha had with the CDR100

      The image files contain error correction data as well as the files; if that makes sense.

          I'll throw in a self-update: my 4416S gave up the ghost (although we found the PSU in its external box was bad, that's probably what killed it), so I got a CRW-F1 with the SCSI converter thingy. Let's see how it goes...
