Yes it does make sense but I'd make a few changes:
1. Make it optical, balls = moving parts = problems
2. put the secondary trigger under the thumb so you could simply tap your thumb on the table. Or keep it pressed against the table for scrolling.
3. Put another trigger under the middle finger (right click)
General usage should remind of a large touchpad. -
