slowdown of XP after installing security update 811493

noticed a slowdown after installing security update 811493 yesterday.
    read this today, http://www.technologyvault.co.uk/new...06151721.shtml
NB Q81143 in the article should really read 811493

uninstalling it using add|remove programs brought my pc back up to its normal speed!

No problem here must be a system config thing.

I went to remove it, but as this is a fresh build - *ALL* off the apps i have installed since would have to be reinstalled.....

This issue seems to be ... sporadic. Didn't happen on my system last time. BUT, this re-install it DID happen, in a BIG way (CPU use would be normal but everything was running DOG SLOW). Yuck.

BAD MS! BAD! (whacks with newspaper)

Yesterday, Newsbytes advised users to visit Windows Update and install 2 critical updates. We now strongly advise you not install the update

just to put this thread to bed, the new version of Q811493 which is on the windows update site at present doesn't cause your system to slowdown!
