Mouse inaccurate

Hi there,

I have a problem with my mouse. It always moves 2 pixels at a time under Windows.

It's a Logitech Cordless Mouseman (an older model), connected to the PS/2 port. MousWare isntalled, but not running. I find its behaviour very annoying. I _think_ my Logi Dual Optical does the same to me (but am not sure).

This is under WinXP, no SP. Mouse speed two notches faster than medium, no acceleration, screen res 1152x864. I don't think my old MS serial Mouse 2.0 did this.

Which mouseware?

I find out 9.73 is OK.

Have the cordless mouseman wheel/win2k and Mouseware 9.73 and no problems.

IIRC there is a reg-hack for higher PS/2 port polling speed.

Do you have the thingie on USB or PS/2, some said PS/2 is better.

Odd pity you didn't include your model.
My wireless mouse goes nuts when the batteries are going flat.
I get killed quick under UT.
Have you checked the website for later drivers???

I remember having this problem a while back, but I don't remember how I fixed it. I'll see if I can figure it out...

Bah, I can't remember. I think the first step is to lose the mouseware completely. Go back to MS drivers. You can even install MS intellipoint and get use of most, if not all, of your extra buttons. It makes a huge difference over the crap logitech drivers.

there are various possibilities:
1/ mouseware
2/ batteries
3/ interference with the emitter (due to a blocked signal or interference with monitor)
4/ flaky cables (I don't think it's the case)

It's definately not 2, not 3, not 4

The behaviour is very consistent, it ALWAYS goes in steps of two pixels.

Again, MouseWare is installed, but not loaded (scroll wheel behaviour is also normal).

Installed but not loaded, how.

I say uninstall mouseware and reisntall version 9.73.

I don't like or need mouseware anyway, so maybe I'll just uninstall it. Forgot the version, will look later

Forgot how I made it so that it doesn't load at startup. Think I did it with msconfig, but forgot the task's name (was something that you wouldn't connect to a Logitech Mouse). You can also disable it (for instance if it doesn't play nice with your games) by ctrl+alt+del'ing it.

I think EM_EXEC.exe is only used in the 'processes'. If you want to stop loading it at startup you should remove:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run \

Entry: Logitech Utility (Value: Logi_MwX.Exe)

It's not just the part that runs at startup that you have to remove. The actual driver is crap too.

I still use the previous release 4.75. With my mouse type it functions, so far.

I have had something simlar, I just turned my mose speed down a tad which, did the trick.
