Buying flat CRT?

Just got a new Dell P1226H 19"
And a few 15"s with it too.

However, despite the specs say "Flat & Square", the glass on the CRTs isn't true flat like my Dell P790. Okay the new ones ain't aperture grill, but they are "flat shadow mask".

So, I'm on shopping again.

My question is, what do I need, from the specs, to tell whether a CRT is true flat (vertical and horizontal, physical and optical, totally flat)?
Can I just say, "oh this one is Trinitron FD so it must be true flat!" ??
Or can this be judged only by seeing the actual product?

And... are these the only tubes that are for true totally flat monitors?
1. Trinitron FD
2. Diamondtron (newer ones)
3. Flatron

I'd say those you listed are dflat, however others go and see the product.

I'd see a monitor anyway prior to buying.

Good advice but if you're like me despite living a big city very few places sell larger monitors. If they do it's a small range and normal it running some crap so you can check out the focus and geometry.

or buy online at one of the 30-day return no question asked places.

browse the user forums, make and choice and order. if it doesn't fit your need, send it back (or rma it if it's defect...)

Problem is... I usually buy on eBay
And the sellers usually knows nothing (they sell ex-corporate clearouts).
