Norton AV with Auto Protect, E-Mail checking and Script Blocking turned "on" for my 'net OS installation, but the removable drives editing installations are not set up for email etc.
Norton 2003 - Realtime scanner, e-mail checked both on arrival and as being sent.
Far too many people stop an AV product from doing a realtime scan and then moan and complain that their systems are infected.
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.
Trolls might not be quick thinkers but they don't forget in a hurry, either
I used to, but don't anymore. I've been stung by a virus, but it was my own stupidity (In a momentary lapse of reason, I opened a .PIF attachment sent to me from a friend's email).
No. I had Norton, but i dont like things running in backgorund on my computer. I only have 2-3 programs on autostart. Besides, i havent gotten a virus yet, and even if i did, i have all my important data backed up.
Seth, are you ok? I`m peachy Kate. The world is my oyster. - Seth Gecko
Just do regular scans one machine like Omegared I hate having things running in the background. The other machine sits quietly in the corner and does weekly sheduled scans. Since they both connected on the same lan it's very likely a virus would infect both machines.
I've had two virus on my home machine. One from a friend and one that just turned up in cache directory of the browser. It wasn't doing anything and checking it out showed it didn't do much.
Chief Lemon Buyer no more Linux sucks but not as much
Weather nut and sad git.
I have real-time scanning with AVG. As Kurt said, Norton was just too much of a hog. At times, even AVG uses too much of my machine time for my tastes. And the automatic scheduling pisses me off. Last night I was trying to convert the Animatrix from SVCD to DVD... and the virus scan went off. Needless to say a 5-hour render became a 15-hour render. Grr...

I reckon with that sorta reaction of your machine to a virus scan, you antivirus product is the least of your problems......................... 10G worth of software/system disk scans in under 30 minutes with NAV2003 set to do all it can.

Yes nothing like the virus checker kicking in and spoiling your game just when you're putting up your record score or whatever.
Playing the oldie toca2 just got into first place and wham screen disappears up pops Notons anti virus. I can hear myself crashing in the background.

I use AVG too. I find it to be a fast and decent ... and free scanner. I don't have it autoschedualing itself to do automatic scans, since they always happen at the wrong time.
I find it far superior to Norton, if only the free version had a few more features (you get what you pay for I guess)
80% of people think I should be in a Mental Institute
Nah, pro version ain't much better. I'm waiting for AVG 7, hoping they'll make it the industry leader. Right now it's the fastest... just not the bestest.
