Ya know you guys, even if you've had some problem with Hpar in the past, I have to agree that the bios 'recovery' disk should've given a warning or something or checked the subsystem id of the card before flashing it with a differant bios. Yeah he was kinda dumb for leaving some unknown floppy in.... but seriously how many people actually keep reciept for warranty stuff a couple years after they bought the card? Someone at tech support should've been able to tell at least when the card was manufacturered by the serial number label, and thereby confirm that is is a G400marvel he has and send a recovery file to play with. I don't know the whole saga, but it doesn't seem like much trouble to just send the correct recovery image.

A bios recovery disk is a last resort, quite often it will be done blind so interactive messages will in most case be pointlessm, and in fact counter productive

If you want to "update" your bios use the proper tools. If you screwed and need to recover it then use the "recovery" disk.

However I would not recomend somone with no technical competence doing a "recovery", he should have taken it to someone who knows what they are doing,
