It seems to me the Promise Ultra 100 TX2 only supports DMA on

Odd, then why did my DVD ROM lock on while on the Promise controller when I went to view the properties of it? And how do I change modes on the thing? I see no options on the drive itself, nor on the card in Device Manager.

Put hard disks on Promise and opticals on motherboard controller.

ATAPI devices (ZIP, optical drives) + ATA card = no worky.

While you're at it, upgrading to the latest firmware for the drive and the latest bios for the card probably isn't a bad idea...
