I've had no real problems with my K7S5A, though finding good memory settings is a bit of a challenge. Probably because I throw reasonably cheap ram into it :-)

I use Crucial in the wifes and use the fastest memory preset. No problems at all.

most of the ones we've sold have exhibited the BIOS problem. It would crash and go back to a 100MHz/100MHz setting (when CPU and RAM require 133/133). various RAM brands were used, various BIOSes, various settings. It would run stable for a while then back to 100/100. maybe it was a bad lot, dunno. we moved on...

My brother's K7S5A 1.3 (I think 1.3) had loads of RAM problems, POS.

Yeah their are know problesm with using 2 stick of ram in a k7s5a's.

What worked for me was replacing the crappy northbridge heatsink with a socket 7 cooler...after that it would work with both slots fully loaded @ 150fsb

the standard heastink is stuck on with some double sided tape that tends to insulate more than it cools...removing complety has cured problems for some people

Wife is now using the K7S5A Pro, which is version 5.0.
