When are these assertions (ever) correct?

Pretty sure I read somewhere that on high settings UT2003 Can use up to 192MB Ram per frame.

As for needing to use Intel, have to agree there, :P I do appreciate the chipset comment though.

All pretty much what I thought really. Here's why I posted:

1) I run into researchers now and then who INSIST on Intel due to some, probably unfounded, superstition that their stuff won't work on anything else, and others who claim that some CAD software will only run on Intel. These people aren't getting into specifics like SSE2 or anything that modern.

2) An acquiantance who claims that Asherons Call 2 is unnacceptably slow on a gfx card with 128MB and that 256MB makes a massive difference. My research only shows CPU and system ram to be significant.

Better to give this kind of ppl what they want, otherwise they'll keep bugging and blaming you for no good reason whatsoever...

I had an older (about 5 years old now) version of solidworks. When I tried to install it, it said that I couldn't because the product required an Intel Processor. I was trying to install it on my brand new Athlon 500. I still have a copy sitting around, I never did install it.
