    Think I read someone hitting 2.7ghz with a mobile 2500+ on Air...

          So what are the pitfalls of using a mobile processor on a regular motherboard? Anything but having a mobo that will go to the lower voltage? Never messed with the mobile Athlons, but from the pic it looks pretty much the same as a non-mobile.

            Seems they only catches are that your motherboard has to be flexible in voltage, and your OS will not recognize the processor. Other than that I've been reading lots of success stories.

              That mobile link was $89 for an OEM cpu, you'll still need a heatsink/fan. For $83, you can get the retail desktop cpu which includes a stock heatsink/fan. Bump up the FSB to 200, and you have a 3200+ proc for $83.

                  I think the cool thing is that they are unlocked, and could not BE locked by the manufacturer if they wanted PowerNow to work with them. That would make a pretty flexible chip.. might could do 2.4 GHz with a beefy hsf (which I would probably get anyway.)

                      There are power proggies availble for windows, they can change the multiplier on the fly in windows

                        yup, just like how the K6-2+ and K6-III+ line had some ont he fly multiplier change programs for windows.. pretty cool stuff. But it would be better if the board natively supported it.
