    My Kenwood system also has issues with DVDR's. The owners manual says not to even attemtp to play DVDR media, but I tried it anyway. Movies work, but they are a little quirky. I don't know if the disc's used were + or -, as the discs were burned by friends.

      With liteon's and some other drives they have a "bitsetting" tool that allows you to set a set a bit on discs so they are ID'd as DVD -rom not DVD-R 's.

      It is supposed to help with compatabilty on older drives or ones that only accept DVD-rom discs

        Does Plextor do this too?
