Yeah optimal combination of memory clock speed and timings are highly dependant on the controler and cpu archetecture.

I read about so numerous negative things regarding OCZ (different review samples and actual stuff they sell, rebranding/remarking of chips)... that I would personally not touch it as long as Corsair, Micron, Infineon, Kingston, Mushkin, Viking and Twinmos are arround.

BTW, does anyone know what GDDR3 or whatever it is - is all about?

GDDR3 is a special memory designed for use with graphics applications, as it has a couple additional features specifically that will help graphics manufacturers utilize space better, such as on-chip termination and impedance control... which both become even more critical as speeds increase. GDDR3 is basically a faster version of DDR, which clock rate cranked up for high bandwidth, but also higher latency and a couple more features.
