Help me find a new mobile phone

I'd only get a flip hpone if it were easily opened and closed one-handed (even with my clumsy left hand) and had no antenna stump. I hate those.

Is there something like that I should check out?

Get the SE K700i . Had it for a month now and couldn't be happier. You can even upgrade the firmware yourself, if you have a sync-station. Used to have a T610 before, this puppy is much nicer.

The Sony Ericsson K700 certainly looks very interesting - is there a difference between it and the K700i? (NOTE: I will not get the crippled Vodafone version)

I can recomand Sony Ericsson K700i

41Mb memory, a very good screen, radio, Bluetooth and the posibility to upgrade the software on the phone over internet.

My friend's got a K700i, neat phone, but the keypad is a bit wobbly. Oh, and definatly get a case for it, you don't want to find scratches on that beautiful phone

Can anyone confirm?

Strange, I wouldn't expect the bitrate to impact the batterylife... What is the technical explanation? Do they run the processor at a slower speed when the bitrate is low, or are they using a different instruction set?

BTW, Az, I'm waiting for the Nokia 6260. It is a Symbian smartphone with many gizmos (from bluetooth and IR over MP3 to mail, ...).

Battery consumption is proportional to processing time. Processing time *= (Number of packets)*(work per packet). Bitrate is a multiplier for work per packet.

Had the K700 in hand today. Very impressive display

I won't be able to afford the Nokia 6260, and it's a flip phone (though it does look very nice).

1) At bitrates higher than 192, the phone starts to struggle decoding them (freeze times)

2) At higher bitrates, the battery life is affected (what wombat said). More stuff to decode, you know


oh, regarding those BMWs....hmmm...you can get BMW phone covers for some Nokias!
