Bending over for intel? How do you see it that way? Getting a HUGE discount by going exclusive isn't bending over in my book.

An Opteron server might make sense....or an AMD laptop with a decent vidcard.

Otherwise, it'd be good to know that Dell Desktops had AMD so that I didn't have to actively discourage people from getting Dells...

Well Michael Dell has bent over for Intel for quite a while, because he os totally in bed with Intel, even when they've had chipset and processor bugs and supply problems that made Dell late on releasing new systems. Yeah I'm sure they get a very nice discount from Intel, but its been long overdue for them to really take a serious look at AMD instead of spewing the normal line of bs about how Intel is better.

Anyway I'm please with my AMD stock lately so I shouldn't complain.

Given what's happened the last few weeks I'm also happy to have AMD stock in my portfolio. It was up 7.5% just today

This may be in part due to Dell's CEO announcing that they're looking at AMD for their servers in 2005;

Hmmm, I am still regretting not buying AMD shares a while back...just before the doubled and split...

But I guess paying off my house faster is a pretty good investment in itself..(rationalisation)

Back to topic...having AMD in a Dell is at least getting the systems I am likely to purchase in the same vague ballpark...certainly may get me to recomend them to some lo-tech who wants computer advice ( I will not even venture a recomendation unless I know I can palm off support to someone else)

Seems to me the only good expandable afordable systems must be AMD...intel has really krapped out with the P4...

Just recently had intel junky friend "defect" to AMD...intel is virtual impossible to justify nowdays

Before everyone gets too carried away that article states AMD processors will be used in Servers, Workstations and Gaming PC's only, so not in their standard desktops.
