    rack mountable case

Are rack mounted cases a fixed width?

I have a space which is 350mm wide (height and depth are not an issue). It would be funky to mount a server case on a rack in there, but I think it's gonna be too narrow.

An alternative would be making a series of shelves and just standing a tower case on one....

I would like to be able to hot swap HDs from the front so the server case would be a bonus...

On a side note, does anyone know of where to got one in the UK?

I take it that you can mount any motherboard inside.....

Much too narrow. Equipment racks are 19 inches screwhole to screwhole. You could, of course, build a shelf for a normal tower-type server case.
