Safe to leave Wifi Antenna disconnected?

I've just built a PC for a friend, based on my A7n8x-e deluxe, which comes with a proprietry wifi adapter that connects to an antenna via a 2-3 foot flimsy lead.

He hopes to use the adaptor, but probably not for a few months, so is it safe to leave the adaptor installed and disconnect the antenna so it can be stored safely?

I ask because I believe you shouldn't use walkie-talkies without the antenna as the power can blow the final output transistor. Is that the case in this scenario?

    TIA

It shouldn't be a problem. The WiFi transmitters are 100mA max if I remember, and don't constantly transmit if it doesn't find an access point. You can always just disable the hardware in device manager until the antenna is connected too.

                  Or take out the card
When you own your own business you only have to work half a day. You can do anything you want with the other twelve hours.

Not really an option for this user or I wouldn't have asked...it's not even a standard pci slot, it has 3 rows of pins on the card that you push into a short socket on the pcb...it would mean a visit by me to do it safely and to configure it too.
