New system time
Ok, I am being told of a X-mas bonus of at least 1k$ USD. I need suggestions for a 3+Ghz rig with a gig of ram on a stable board that will be happy with the latest vid cards out there that fits this budget. AMD or INTEL cpu.

I agree with GNEP. The A64's are one fast rig & have the edge of late. Intels gonna be in the dumpers until they come out with their dual-core dies, and even then AMD will likely have been there first.

I thought the 90 nm cores weren't hitting retail unitl next year? At least the ones with SSE3 (which is what I'm aiming for).

ASUS, MSI, Abit, etc are all good, I along with the others also recommend some sort of A64. For a video card go with the 6800GT or a 6600GT (when the AGP part comes out), but depends on the budget.
A big thing to consider would also be PCI-E.Q9450 + TRUE, G.Skill 2x2GB DDR2, GTX 560, ASUS X48, 1TB WD Black, Windows 7 64-bit, LG M2762D-PM 27" + 17" LG 1752TX, Corsair HX620, Antec P182, Logitech G5 (Blue)
Laptop: MSI Wind - Black
