    That is a good question. All the Poweredge servers I use have dual intel GB nic's, in a PCI-X slot.

        PCI-X should stay around in servers for a while. Currently the PCIe chipsets don't have enough lanes to support having the 16x slot for graphics and another 3-4 4x slots for high end add in cards.
