It should be very reliable, but if you ever want to upgrade, hope your credit card is ready for the impact.

I need to figure out if/how I can mount a PATA RAID array in there (The SCSI disks are expendable) and then to decide on what OS to use.
I know that as it is only a dual P2 400 xeon, I should go with a flavour of linux, but part of me is itching to use a MS Server OS I just think that it will cripple the server.... ... perhaps if i used quad P2 500MHz Xeon chips.....

A MS OS is not an option for you. also, I am thinking about replacing the three 9gb drives with 18.2 gb, so that i can have a raid5 array with all six drives... is that possible?
