remote access software

I'm looking for any software that will allow my to access my server remotly. Most of the time, i'll be able to manage it though the network shares, but it would be nice if i could 'take control' from the comfort of my house.

Any ideas?

Are you using any kind of encryption? I believe VNC alone does not have this.

There is an option in realVNC to force encryption (which i've set). I think it uses 2048bit keys, although I'm not convinced.

How vulnerable is VNC?

If you're using W2K3, just use the built in remote desktop. It's very secure, and very efficient. It's even usable over dialup.

Unencrypted graphics, and maybe a password grab.

I would use UltraVNC or TightVNC instead of RealVNC. I use Tight myself.

I've set tightVNC up!

I've noticed that my file transfers over the network (though network shares) are only using ~3% of the bandwith.

I have checked that my server and client are set to 100mbps, full duplex - which is confirmed. Am I overlooking anything else?

I use TightVNC 1.2.9. I think 1.3 allows files transfers too.

yeah, but my file transfers are shockingly slow..
Task manager reports 2% utilisation, CPU is running at ~10%.

I have forced 100Mbit, full duplex.
Both cards seem fine, although the one in the server is a freebie 3Com 3C905TX... I woulder if that could be the problem...
