New toy

Hey just got a new screen for my computer !

A second-hand IBM C220P, 22" CRT. It's only 1y/o and in excellent condition. Got it for 300€. It's a nice addition to my 19" Sony G420 !
Now I just have to sell that 17" Eizo F520.

I also have to get a DVI-A / DVI-A cable to replace the damaged HD-15 I'm currently using but those damn things are hard to find

You know, it's Odd....my sister gave me her 'old' 21" Sony Multiscan G500 three weeks ago...still runs as new. Of course, to fully appreciate it, I had to take my G400MAX out of retirement. Oddly enough, this makes the first time I have built a true 2-D Workstation using my Max...

Yes those Sony can last very long, they are pretty reliable and stable.

It's not that odd you used your max as a 2D card for the 1st time. When it came out it was a powerful 3D card I still have mine, I keep it in case I want to build a small HTPC but I don't think it's going to happen.

Sony monitors can be some quality stuff. My 420GS is almost 6 years old now, and the only thing that shows age is that it's a little fuzzy until it warms up for a few minutes. Otherwise it looks fantastic.

I have two used 22" NEC Trinitrons at home ( $269 CDN each) which being trinitrons are basically sonys. They are old, but work great.. seem more stable than my now dying for the second time Viewsonic P815.. it just sucks that when they power up ( the NEC's that is) they do a degauss , which when both are doing it at the same time trips my UPS, so I cannot have them connected

power for the NEC is ~90W when operating.. ~300W when degaussing

Yes many CRT do a degauss when powering up. But I didn't know how much power it required. 300W is an awfull lot of power
