QT 7 "public review" out for Windows.

Ok... if that's all the better they can do at coding an application for x86 processors they've just doomed themselves with the announcement that they're switching to Intel. On my system, which just happens to run at one BILLION four hundred and twenty million clock cycles per second barely hits maybe 5 fps average with seconds long freezes on 480p H-264 videos. I thought WMV-HD had insane system requirements, but at least it can run 720p on my pathetic (?) system.

[edit]Oh wait... that wasn't even a 720p video it was bogging down on, it was only 480p! LMAO![/edit]

No surprise there. QuickTime has always been a dog on Windows; however, its performance has little to do with how well OS X and other Mac apps run on a x86 platform. That much is evident just by seeing QT 7 run flawlessly on an Intel-based Mac.

Quicktime is kind of a dog on anything that isn't the latest generation of Macs. Or maybe I'm just bitter that it still pops up the Register for Pro screen when running software update by the command line softwareupdate utility remotely.

Ouch... I had downloaded, and kept, the 1080p trailers for Serenity and Batman Begins. At half size I was able to render about 2-3 frames per second with 2-3 second pauses per 1-2 second of play.

            Pentium M 1.6 GHz
            1 GB RAM
            ATi Radeon 9600 Mobile

Why not just download the Serenity WMV-HD... oh wait, that's 720p, yeah?

Looks like my new machine is already outdated, all because of apple.

edit: actually... maybe the 6600GT will help. if having purevideo enabled and drivers working properly (i heard few days ago that msft released a fix that it'd work) gotta try it when i get home.

For 1920x1080 (1080p) video at 24-30 frames per second:
QuickTime 7 for Mac OS X:
Dual 2.0 GHz PowerMac G5 or faster Macintosh computer
At least 512 MB of RAM
128 MB or greater video card

What does the intel machine have to be for this res!!!!

just need a good graphics card *nod*

R520 has hardware accelerated H.264 i think, not sure if nv's purevideo does it...

Actually ALL Radeons will soon accelerate WMV-HD.

                        LOL even my Radeon 8500?

                        haha j/k

eh. on nvidia official forums they said 1080p runs smoothly with the 6600GT.

Of course, the 6800GT/Ultra video processor is broken. How ironic. A cheaper part is actually better than the more expensive part in that respect.

Don't laugh... well, ok. I'm not sure about the 8500. All R3xx and up cores do.
