    Displacement Mapping

Did anyone see the function of displacement mapping (which should be in the Parhelia) in use,
or is it just another feature like the famous Head-Casting?

Just wondering, because its available for at least 2 years now ....

i may be talking complte BS now, but i seem to remember something about MS including it DX 9 so so matrox put it in their spec. I dont think it actually made it into the DX9 spec and as such no one seems to use it now. This is a fairly sketchy memory so as i said it may be complete crap.
is a flower best picked in it's prime or greater withered away by time?
Talk about a dream, try to make it real.

if I recall, it is an optional part of DX9. however, most developers chose to implement it as a function of vertex shaders instead. it gives them a bit more flexibility, although the implementation is not quite as good.
