Sorry for the delay in replying it's been hectic here.
Yeah, back safe and sound - just in from a weekend away in London.
Munich was fun although expensive. I bet the prices tripple everyyear at Oktoberfest. Still the weisbier was very good indeed. I even managed to get arrested only once!
In any case, it seems that the laptop has taken a bit of a back seat. The bank are insisting that they are not obliged to cover the insurance, but they probably will as I have been misinformed. I am still waiting to hear back from them.
As far as the rest of the hardware goes, I am uncertain as to how to proceed.
My server is working beautifully, but doesn't suppor the IDE RAID array that I had planned.
I am starting to realise that perhaps the best way forward would be to sell the server and replace it with something cheap. I have the SCSI and IDE drives / RAID controller, so I could sell the server and buy a cheap CPU/mobo/ram/case. I have seen the ProLiants going on ebay for ~£150, so I guess that's my budget if that's how I am going to proceed.
As far as the desktop goes, I'd like to replace it with a laptop, but my finances probably arn't going to stretch that far at the moment. I will keep the desktop for now and have a think about it later. I've checked on ebay and it certainly isn't worth selling.
