Random Reboots...

Ok, so about 8 months ago, I replaced my Winfast TV2000 XP card with a Hauppage PVR250. However, on occasion, I'll come back to my PC at the login screen, as if it had just rebooted.

When I look in the event viewer, here's what I find:

I uninstalled the software when I uninstalled the card...so why am i still getting these problems?

This is happening to my Dual AMD 2000MP system with no reason I can think of!! I had no choice but to retire it, until I have the time to spend on figuring it out!

I have had similar messages associated with a TV card, as I remeber I tracked it down to old registry information from old out of date drivers that never go removed properly.

I went in manually to cleaned them out but, you could try a registry cleaner or perhaps going into device ,manager and removing suspect items after enabling show hidden devices ....or somehting like that.

It also was somehow related to some of the driver not being 100% acpi compliant or some such.

it is showing as a service, just disable it.....

It's not. I've scoured the list several times now.

Are you sure all previous drivers are uninstalled?

Goto device manager and enable "show hidden devices" and see if there's still a driver installed.

Holy crap, there were 3 of the crossbar drivers in that list for some reason. I removed them and rebooted...this just might do it!

But that PVR card that was causing the proglems is no longer in the PC.

Clearly, it wants to be reinstalled ! ;-))

any chance of a clean install of the OS ? as in wipe the disk ? May be your best bet.

Otherwise, check the PS voltages under load.
