I'll phone around a few shops then.
And you would definatley recommend this over the other despite the fact that it doesn't support ADSL2 or 802.11a/b?
*edit* not that i need either...
It supports 802.11b, not A though.
Also... does your phone company not provide you with a DSL modem?

ah crap! The wife has gone and bought a video wireless baby monitor that broadcasts at 2.4GHz. Is there an option in the WRT45G to adjust the signal band or should I just send the baby monitor back upopened?

You can adjust the signal band, but they all hover around 2.4 GHz (same freq as DECT phones and microwaves BTW). I don't think you'll get a video baby monitor that uses a different band.

If you mean because of interference, I wouldn't worry about it.
We have 2.4GHz phones, including one handset 5 feet from our router, and I've never noticed a problem.
Also, if you reflash with an alternative firmware, be sure to press the "reset to factory defaults" button and then re enter your settings.
I had a problem with that when I flashed mine with the firmware that GURM recomended.
It acted really flakey until I reset it.
Mine is a 1.1 version though...
For resetting, Linksys support says hold the reset button pushed for 30 seconds, wait 3 seconds, pull power, wait 10 seconds, plug power back in and let it boot (until power LED stops flashing).
Also, even if you "hard" reset it, the nVram isn't cleared yet.
There's a sticky on the HyperWRT forum about how to clear the nvram, which will make everything all nice-nice.
Paddy:
You can get 'em, just keep looking or as suggested try eBay. There are no electronics superstores where you live?
Also as far as interference... EVERYTHING lives in 2.4ghz, that's why 2.4ghz phones suck donkey kong. Your microwave... is at 2.4ghz (or close enough to cause interference). You can't escape it, so I wouldn't worry about the video monitor.

ah crap! I've re-read the thread and realised what you are getting at. The WRT45G doesn't have an incorporated ADSL modem! bugger.
Oh good gravy, that's a poor poor POOR idea.
Seriously, is that the norm over in your part of the world?
Wouldn't you like to be able to keep the router even if the phone company does an unplanned "upgrade"?
Over here, we RENT our modems for the most part. Yeah, I pay an extra $2.50 a month for the modem rental fee. But if lightning hits it, or if it just gets "old" and can't cope with the new tier of service, I wander down to the local Comcast office and get another one, no charge and no hassle.
I recommend this highly. If your phone company simply WILL NOT give/lend/lease you a modem, then buy one... but STILL keep it apart from the router. All-in-one combo units ALWAYS suck. ALWAYS.

I guarantee you that the USB one just has its ethernet port covered over.

I've checked - it looks like i'd have to buy a seperate modem if i don't get one incorporated into the router. In anycase, it's the modem that's FUBAR'd
