Apple Mac Pro - £6,484.07
Dell Precision 690 - £11,668.00

Alot of the premium went to 667 Mhz FB Dimms on the dell which are standard in the Mac.

That pricing does look somewhat off, given those systems with equal specs here come in at $4,949 and $5,447 (Apple vs. Dell, respectively).

Then again, we all know how Dollar vs. Pound goes.

I'm assuming you spec'd up 16Gb DDR2 667 memory, which is an extra £ 7,220 at Dell's prices Of course it would be half that price if you bought the memory elsewhere

That would do it. Though the basic point here is that the Mac Pros aren't anymore expensive than their Dell (and, I would guess, other) counterparts.

IMHO that's the case with all Macs...

Then again you can build your own system with high quality components for a fraction of either of those prices and still get your 16GB of ram to boot!
