    Core 2 Duo Performance

Thought things were meant to speed up and get more snappy.

When I'm copying lots of data from one hard disk to another things still grind to a halt.

Thought they would have sorted that out. I have enough memory 1gb.

This should happen with neither an older nor a Dual Core system. Are your drives all in DMA mode? (It does happen on my Laptop, too, though, and I don't know why)
There's an Opera in my macbook.

It's just a single SATA drive on a Dell. When doing antivirus scan (AVG 7.5) the whole thing is almost unuseable. It's a E6600 i have with 1gb ram and XP Home.

Was copying between partitions. The system was almost freezing. When trying to open live messenger etc. Maybe that programs are just poorly coded. I don't know if they are in DMA mode as I thought that was a PCI thing, not PCI Express.

Maybe a good clean out is needed.

I have no clue what's going on with your system but with my laptop, I can do a spyware scan with Spybot, Ad-Aware, Ewido and Super-anti-spyware all the while doing a virus scan with avg 7.5 and still, things load are run pretty damned fast despite my hdd being a 5400rpm with 1gb ram.
        Titanium is the new bling!
