Would an eSATA to SATA cable work the same as a SATA to eSATA cable?

It will probably work but there seems to be a concern about the number of time one can plug/unplug the normal SATA connector design - see here
IMO if you can connect the thing reliably it should work - eSATA cables are basically only a better quality shielded cable so why not?Lawrence -
It won't be plugged in/out at all. The ASUS P5B, although it has RAID, doesn't have RAID that is native to the chipset. It has a separate chip for RAID, but the problem is it uses 1 eSATA and 1 SATA. i have an external raid5 box that i built using internal sata cables through a backplate sata to esata conversion X2 that works just fine. Only thing to watch out for is the total length of the cables.Comment
