I am not sure on you model but quite a few nvidia chipset network connections with the built in fire walls have had similar issues like these. From what I can recall disabling checksum offloading(device manger) may help, but I think it should have been fixed by now...eg make sure you have the latest bios/firmware.

I will certainly check the BIOS on the board and update it if necessary.

It's a common chipset (can't remember which).

Linux sees it fine.

On XP, load the drivers from the CD that comes with it.
Win Update will eventually take it to a generic chipset driver.

I have them in three of my computers.
They work fine.
I don't know about jumbo frames, special features, etc though.
They are most likely just reference board copies, not optimized or anything.

For $8 if it doesn't work up to your needs you can throw it in a drawer as a spare.
