PLEXTOR 40X QUESTION

i bought a plextor 40x max cd-rom and i'm having a strange problem...every time i close the tray (with or without a disc) i hear a plastic noise when the motor start to spin ...it's like some plastic is touching some part of the motor...but the noise is only when it start spinning...

i want to know if it's normal (i don't think so)

Hello,
I also have a Plextor 40x and it makes a short series of clicks just before spinning up (not very loud and it doesn't sound like something hitting against the motor hard. It did that ever since I got it and all Plex 40s I installed did that too. It works fine, does yours too?

yes for what i can say..it's working well...
but i wanted to know if this noise is normal..
i think the noise comes from the plastic thing that grabs the disc from the top...

Looks like it's O.K. then.
I would worry if this sound would be loud and kind of hard. If your drive doesn't complain about discs being unreadable and if it can handle multisession discs ( try with a 5/6/7 session disc) it is working properly.
