    Wombat: If it is too load, hoot up the ground wire to the red wire from your P.S and the positive to the yellow wire.
    This will lower fan voltage to 7 Volts, which will lower the fan's RPM considerably and hence a quiter fan.
    This will affect the alpha's performance (by about 5-7%)

      I know that trick, but I appreciate the help. Thanks. Are you sure the performance difference is so small? This Athlon runs hot @ 1.95V, but that's what it took to keep stable.
      Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
