    A moment of silence please...

My ancient 19" CRT monitor passed away last night. I have been using it as a secondary monitor for about five years, when I bought my LCD. Last night the vertical hold started going out, then the monitor started smoking and that burning electronics smell filled the office.

And so I pulled the plug on the monitor one last time and, after 14 years of service, have retired it. This was the oldest piece of electronics I have ever owned.

Please bow your heads in reverence for the passing of the venerable old guard...

    Thank you,

May his machine soul rest in peace and his physical parts be recycled into a quality product like he once was. Amen.

I don't think "retire" is the right word.

Sorry to hear. And I'm typing this on my IBM model M buckling spring keyboard that I bought in 1993, and which I've used nearly everyday since then. Even for gaming.
