    software to draw/design furniture

    Hello,

We seem to have problems finding some small accessory furniture we like (why do all the shops offer such ugly things?), and were thinking of designing something ourselves. There are shops here where you can hand in a specification (size of panels, location of holes, type of finishings, ...), and they just make the panels for you.
We would start out with bed side tables, and then a desk. So nothing too complicated.

Any suggestions for good (free) software for this?
Important is the possibility to properly set dimensions.

    Thanks!

We went to Ikea as we saw something nice in the catalog. But in reality it turned out not to be so nice. So it got us thinking: how difficult can it be? Especially if you have specialized shops that custom make panels to your specification...
We'll give google SketchUp a try...
