    Won't happen.

Rambus has no friends in industry. Customers hate them, producers hate them and I guess even Intel hates them, they just can't say it.
The way they acquired their patents (not disclosing they had pending patents in Jedec etc.) is an insult to the rest of the industry. I hope the US courts to get it right this time.

So how did they aquire their patents? Didn't they have some intellectual property rights? Did they buy them? What?

A bunch of companies were meeting to try to come up with an industry standard. RAMBUS left in the middle of the proceedings, and ran off and patented the ideas that it stole from the group effort.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
