    W98 scan reg

When W98 loads it runs scan reg.
What is this and is it vital to W98 boot.

    Thanks

This is a quick scan of your registry to check and see if it got corrupted (happens a lot on bad shutdowns, and other times), if it detects a bad registry, it will attempt to load the last known good registry backup, if that one's bad, it will go to the next one, and so on.

Yes, leave this enabled. It takes all of 6 seconds of your boot time, and will save some headaches if it is ever used.
